The Holy Fifty Days is a joyful period between the Feast of the Resurrection and the Feast of Pentecost, during which there is no fasting and services are conducted in a joyful tune. The Church celebrates the Resurrection daily as one continuous Sunday. On the 40th day, the Feast of the Ascension commemorates Christ’s ascent into heaven, and ten days later, the Holy Spirit descended on Pentecost. From Ascension to Pentecost, processions are held inside the sanctuary, symbolizing heaven.
